HASTINGS. Neb. — Kira Roberts ripped 34 kills in two matches as Southern Nazarene knocked off Morningside (Iowa), 3-2 (25-23, 23-25, 25-22, 20-25, 16-14) before falling, 3-2 (23-25, 23-25, 25-18, 25-18, 15-13)
The Crimson Storm (11-2) have now played three, five-set matches in their last five matches.
SNU opened the day by fighting back from being down 10-5 in the final set to upend Morningside.
The Storm got 15 kills from Roberts who also had five blocks.
Ellen Martin led the way with 17 kills and 11 digs.
Taylor Jacobs had 13 kills and six blocks to go with a pair of aces.
Kaylee Piatt had 45 assists and 16 digs along with three blocks.
Natalia Oliveira had 17 digs while
KateLyn Biddy had 13.
Against Hastings, SNU got 19 kills out of Roberts who hit .444 (19-3-36). Oliveira ripped 16 kills and had 18 digs while Piatt had 47 assists and 13 digs along with three blocks. Martin had nine kills and nine digs to go with three aces. Biddy had 16 digs while
Emily Troup had 10. Jacobs and
Jamie Hope each posted four blocks.
Southern Nazarene will now play at Oklahoma City, Tuesday, at 7 p.m.
