SNU Sweeps Cameron In Home Opener

Crimson Storm pick up dominating win over the Aggies, 3-0

BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene opened its home slate in dominant fashion on Tuesday night, sweeping Cameron University 3-0 inside the Sawyer Center.

The Crimson Storm (3-5, 0-0 GAC) earned their first home win of the season behind a career performance from Rayanna Mauldin, who posted a personal best 18 kills to lead all players. SNU hit .203 as a team and never trailed for long in any set, topping the Aggies (3-7, 0-0 LSC) by scores of 25-21, 25-18, and 25-22.

In set one, Southern Nazarene weathered an early push from Cameron, who led 10-8 midway through the frame. Mauldin began to find her rhythm offensively, and a 6-1 run by the Storm swung momentum back in their favor. SNU finished the set with 11 kills and just four errors, taking the opener 25-21.

Set two was all Crimson Storm from the start. SNU used a balanced attack and limited mistakes to build a quick lead. Hannah Morgan tallied five of her 10 total kills in the frame, while setter Brelee Mauldin dished out nine assists. Southern Nazarene hit a match-best .311 and closed the set on a 7-2 stretch to win 25-18.

The Aggies came out swinging in the third, jumping ahead 11-8. But Mauldin continued to pace the Storm offensively, and Jaidyn Reid added key swings and a block to help SNU regain control. Despite Cameron pulling within one late, Southern Nazarene stayed poised and sealed the sweep with a 25-22 decision.

Rayanna Mauldin led all scorers with 18 kills and added 13 digs for her third double-double of the season. Morgan followed with 10 kills and two blocks, while Reid contributed six kills and a pair of blocks. Brelee Mauldin ran the offense with 25 assists and 11 digs.
