BETHANY, Okla. —
No. 11 Southern Nazarene is still looking for its first big test and will probably get it Saturday night after SNU led from start to finish in a 71-56 win over MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.)

The Crimson Storm (3-0) held the Pioneers (4-3) to just 30.6 shooting from the field and forced 15 turnovers. SNU shot 47.2 percent from the field as it dominated the paint, scoring 34 points in the lane compared to just 22 by the Pioneers.

“It was a pretty ugly game tonight,” said SNU Head Coach Lori Carter. “With that many free throws shot, it's hard to get into the flow of the game. We got some stops. That's the type of game that MidAmerica plays. They are a tough team that is very physical.”

Logan Martin led the way for Southern Nazarene with 14 points, six rebounds and four assists. She was 4-for-5 from the field and added six free throws. Oumoul Thiam was right behind with 12 points. Those two were a part of 10 Crimson Storm that go in scorebook. Sharmeda Johnson added nine points and five rebounds off the bench while Abbey Marra was just a bucket shy of a double-double.

The Storm struggled from 3-point range and at the free-throw line going just 2-for-10 from downtown and 19-for-36 at the stripe.

SNU got off to a hot start with a 14-4 lead, but MNU kept it within single digits until just past the midway point of the first half. SNU led 18-11 with 8:57 left in the first when Thiam sparked a 9-2 run to give the Storm a 27-13 lead. SNU stretched it to 37-21 at the half.

Despite rough shooting in the second half, SNU was able to hold off the Pioneers down the stretch and cruised to its third straight win.

The Crimson Storm will now host No. 19 Langston that improved to 4-0 with a 76-71 win over Oklahoma Baptist. Tip is set for 3 p.m.
