Box Score

BETHANY, Okla. —
For the moment, Southern Nazarene sits atop the Sooner Athletic Conference standings after a 2-0 win over Oklahoma Baptist Saturday night and come Tuesday evening, that's exactly where SNU should be rated in the weekly rating.

The Crimson Storm (11-2, 6-0 SAC) should be in the weekly ratings and should easily be in the top 25 after not hitting the rankings all year. SNU has won seven straight and is undefeated in the conference and has defeated its opponents in SAC play by a combined score of 39-1.

A goal in either half is all SNU needed as Rachael Wade notched her fourth shutout of the year and second straight as the senior made three saves. Oklahoma Baptist took seven shots and put three on goal, while SNU pounded the OBU goal with 26 shots and 10 on goal.

OBU nearly struck first in the 16th minute off a header, but Lauren Vabolis snuck in at the last second to deflect it away from the goal. The Lady Bison put another sharp shot on goal later in the half on a free run, but Rachael Wade made a diving save to her left to keep the scoreless tie.

Mia Vabolis broke the scoreless tie in the 39th minute when she pulled down a Bekah Stewart cross and then beat a defender and laced a goal to the bottom left goal to give SNU the 1-0 lead.

The Storm carried that lead into the half until Sherri Collins gave SNU a 2-0 lead in the 71st minute when Jackie Acevedo found her just a few feet in front of the goal and Collins put it home.

The Storm now get set to make a West Texas road trip when they travel to Wayland Baptist, Thursday, for a 5 p.m. SAC contest.
