Crimson Storm Turn In Strong Performances at Harding Invitational

Abriel Thrash and Gabe Rush lead the way with event wins as Southern Nazarene posts multiple top finishes in Searcy

SEARCY, Ark. - The Crimson Storm track and field team traveled to Searcy, Arkansas to compete in the Stallion Transportation Harding Invitational hosted by Harding University, turning in several strong performances on both the men's and women's sides.

On the women's side, Abriel Thrash led the way with an impressive all-around day. She won the high jump with a mark of 1.63 meters (5' 4.25") and also claimed first place in the 200 meters with a time of 24.86. Thrash added another top finish in the 100-meter hurdles, placing fourth with a time of 15.87, and recorded a throw of 32.25 meters (105' 10") in the javelin to finish 10th.

Tylie Thrash delivered a strong race in the 400-meter hurdles, placing third with a time of 1:09.58.

In the throws, Lexi Atteberry had a big day, finishing second in the shot put with a mark of 12.94 meters (42' 5.5"). She also placed sixth in the discus with a throw of 38.86 meters (127' 6") and ninth in the hammer throw with a mark of 35.69 meters (117' 1"). Sarah Herring added a 12th-place finish in the discus with a throw of 34.59 meters (113' 6") and placed seventh in the hammer throw with a mark of 36.96 meters (121' 3").

Shyla Navarre competed in the javelin and placed sixth with a throw of 35.91 meters (117' 10"). She also ran the 200 meters, finishing 13th with a time of 27.74.

On the men's side, the Storm had a strong showing in the sprints. Quinton Zirretta led the group in the 100 meters with a fifth-place finish in 10.70. Patrick Uzzle followed closely behind in sixth with the same time of 10.70, while James Beasley finished eighth in 10.81.

Beasley also led the Storm in the 200 meters, placing eighth with a time of 22.08. Zirretta added a 19th-place finish in 22.85, Terrance Green ran 23.07 for 21st, and Gabe Rush posted a time of 23.84.
Green also competed in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing eighth with a time of 1:00.01.

The Storm relay team of Ian Locke, Terrance Green, James Beasley, and Quinton Zirretta turned in a strong performance in the 4x100 relay, placing second with a time of 41.79.

In the field events, Gabe Rush highlighted the day by winning the high jump with a clearance of 1.88 meters (6' 2"). Rush also placed ninth in the long jump with a mark of 6.18 meters (20' 3.5") and added a throw of 35.56 meters (116' 8") in the javelin.

In the throws, Johnaton Haywood recorded a fourth-place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 45.12 meters (148' 0") and also placed 10th in the discus with a throw of 42.00 meters (137' 9"). Ian Locke added a mark of 10.84 meters (35' 6.75") in the shot put and threw 38.29 meters (125' 7") in the javelin.

The Crimson Storm will travel to Coffeyville, Kansas to compete in the Dean Pryor Invitational hosted by Coffeyville Community College on Thursday, March 12.
