Storm Bounce Back with 72-58 Road Win at SWOSU

Southern Nazarene responds after Thursday loss with dominant second and third quarters to pull away in Weatherford

WEATHERFORD, Okla. - Southern Nazarene picked up a big 72-58 road win over Southwestern Oklahoma State Saturday afternoon in a Great American Conference matchup.

The Crimson Storm (8-13, 8-9 GAC) used a huge second and third quarter to pull away from the Bulldogs (9-13, 7-10 GAC). After trailing 18-13 at the end of the first quarter, SNU flipped the momentum in the second, outscoring SWOSU 24-12 to take a 37-30 lead into halftime.

Southern Nazarene kept its foot on the gas in the third quarter, shooting 69.23 percent from the field in the period and adding 29 points to stretch the lead to 66-51 heading into the final frame . The Storm's defense handled the rest, holding the Bulldogs to just seven fourth quarter points to secure the 14 point win.

Boston Berry led the way with a game-high 21 points off the bench, shooting 9-of-11 from the field and adding three assists . Braci Nyberg followed with 14 points, knocking down two three-pointers and going a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line.

Halyn Browning added 11 points with three triples, while Jordan Hoffman chipped in nine points and Shannon Burton finished with seven points and five assists. The Storm bench made a huge impact, scoring 42 of the team's 72 points.

Southern Nazarene shot 49 percent from the floor and 40 percent from three, while also forcing 18 turnovers and turning them into key scoring opportunities.

The Crimson Storm will return to the Sawyer Center to take on East Central University on Monday, February 16 at 5:30 pm.
