SNU Women’s Rugby Dominates Aquinas, 60-0

SNU leave Aquinas College scoreless in a decisive victory

ROLLA, Mo. - Southern Nazarene cruised to a 60-0 win over Aquinas College in a dominant showing at a neutral site matchup.

The Crimson Storm came out firing, looking to stretch Aquinas' defense and get their backline moving. Freshman Jillian Mataele opened the scoring with a hard-earned try under the posts after slicing through the Saint defenders converted by Riley Erickson. While SNU controlled much of the play, Aquinas kept testing the Storm's transition defense, forcing a few turnovers.

The Crimson Storm defense held strong, keeping Aquinas pinned in their own half. Jaylyn Isaacs added the next try with a smart step back inside the covering defenders, followed by a quick double from senior and three-time All-American Telesi Uhatafe, with the second converted by Erickson.

SNU's attack continued to click, giving the Saints trouble out wide. Sophomore Jada Zaragoza scored a long-range try, and captain Chloe Tarango finished off another powerful run from Uhatafe, with both tries converted by Erickson. Uhatafe capped the first half with her hat trick, slicing through the tiring Aquinas defense to give the Crimson Storm a 43-0 lead at the break.

Fresh legs in the second half kept the momentum going. Mataele opened the scoring again, diving under the posts from an Uhatafe offload converted by Erickson. Despite the scoreline, Aquinas stayed competitive, spending much of the next 15 minutes in the Crimson Storm's 22-meter zone. Isaacs turned the tide, breaking free on a 50-meter run after an offload that was converted by debutant Ireland Jeffrey, who later crossed the try line herself after smart team handling to open her scoring account.

The Crimson Storm controlled the game from start to finish, securing a commanding 60-0 victory over Aquinas College.
