LUBBOCK, Texas - The Crimson Storm have claimed back-to-back Lonestar Conference 7s Championships to match their back-to-back 15s Championships and have punched their ticket to the Collegiate Rugby Championship in Washington DC set for April 26-28.
Over the weekend, the number 1 seed SNU Women's Rugby traveled to Texas Tech for the 3rd and final leg of the LoneStar Conference 7s Championships.
SNU got out to a fast start in their first match up against Texas State. Six ladies scored contributed to the 44-0 victory-
Allison Quinn (1 try),
Ava Mayo (2 tries and 1 conversion),
Kamryn Seale (1 try),
Miangel Gleeson (2 tries),
Chloe Tarango 1 try, 1 conversion), and
Keziah Segovia (1 try).
In the semi-finals SNU met a strong Texas Tech side. In this down-to-the-wire, back-and-forth match that saw tremendous effort on both sides,  SNU presented their typical fast-paced attack and strong defense but Tech refused to allow SNU to run away with a win. Tech seemed to match SNU's every move, they took advantage of SNU's smallest mistakes and stayed on the Heels of SNU until the final whistle.  In the end, SNU finished with a one try lead of 22-17.  SNU's offensive efforts were led by
Bayli Gilliland (2 tries),
Kiera Muckey (1 try), and
Ava Mayo (1 try),
Maya Hartnett added 1 conversion. The match's defensive efforts were led by
Kamryn Seale, Gilliland, and Muckey. One of Gilliland's tackles near Tech's defending goal resulted in a fumbled ball, recovered by
Kiera Muckey and carried into the goal for a try.  This play proved to be the difference in the game.
In the finals, the Crimson Storm managed a 32-5 win over the University of Texas San Antonio.  The scrappy UTSA side put up a fight but SNU's deep roster proved to be an advantage as the sun beat down during the final match of the day.  Fresh legs allowed SNU to out-pace the Road Runners and dominate each half.
Kamryn Seale ignited the first half with her defensive pressure.  Early in the the half she intercepted pass in the mid-line and ran it back 40 meters for her final try of the day.  Other try scorers were
Maya Hartnett (2),
Miangel Gleeson (1),
Chloe Tarango (1),
Kiera Muckey (1).
Ava Mayo added one conversion.

SNU's Crimson Storm has finished the 2024 7s regular season with an overall record of 18-1.  Try scoring leaders are
Bayli Gilliland (14), Trina Rizzotto (12),
Maya Hartnett (9).
