SNU Begins 7's Season Undefeated

The goes 5-0 to begin 7's season in Bethany

BETHANY, Okla. - The SNU Women's Rugby squad hit the pitch to open the 7's season. The Storm hosted multiple teams to begin the first round of the Lonestar Conference 7's tournament. Southern Nazarene saw a lot of success leaving the weekend 5-0.

Game 1 vs Texas A&M 

The Crimson Storm went head to head with the Aggies of Texas A&M to begin the 7's tournament. The Storm took down TAMU 19-0 to snag their first victory of the 7's season. Maya Hartnett led the way with two tries and two conversion kicks. Bayli Gilliland also contributed one try to help SNU claim the victory over the Aggies.

Game 2 vs Sam Houston State

The Storm continued to dominate as they took on Sam Houston State. SNU was led by Pietrina Rizzotto who tallied three tries for the Storm. Keziah Segovia and Kamryn Seale followed suit with two tries apiece. Ava Mayo contributed two conversions while Miangel Gleeson added one as well. The powerful Crimson Storm offense took down Sam Houston by a final score of 41-0.

Game 3 vs Texas

Southern Nazarene picked up right where they left off as they battled with the Longhorns. Rizzotto continued to play a large role for SNU posting two tries. Hartnett also continued to be a key contributor with one try and three conversion kicks. Gilliland and Seale added one try a piece as well. The Storm offense overpowered Texas to take down the Longhorns 31-5.

Game 4 vs UT-San Antonio

The Storm offense continued to overpower their opponents, this time it was UTSA. Gilliland, Seale, and Chloe Tarango all contributed one try for the Storm. Hartnett also stayed hot tallying two conversions. The Storm took down UTSA by a final score of 19-0.

Game 5 vs LeTourneau 

SNU stayed hot collecting their final win of the tournament against LeTourneau. Jayla Johnson, Rizzotto, Hartnett, and Gleeson also contributed one try each to help lead the Storm to a perfect weekend. Southern Nazarene ultimately took down LU 20-5.

SNU's second game against Texas and their final game against Texas Tech both resulted in forfeits by the other teams.

Next Up

The women will take the pitch again to continue Lonestar 7's play March 2nd in College Station, Texas to take on the Aggies.
