Storm Competes at Gorilla Classic

Strong performances in pole vault and high jump highlight the meet.

PITTSBURG, Kan. - Southern Nazarene Track and Field team made the trip to Pittsburg, Kansas for the Gorilla Classic going up against strong competition over two days of action.

On the men's side, Tyler Deisering had a solid performance in the pole vault, clearing 4.30m to secure seventh place. 

The distance medley relay team of Miller, Patton, Young, and Ponce finished in 15th with a time of 10:46.25. In the 800m, Austin Miller led SNU with a 1:58.27 finish, placing 34th, followed closely by Andres Young placing 44th and Keith Howerton placing 45th. 

Riley Patton placed 20th and Malachi Allen placed 22nd and competed in the 600 yard run.

For the women, Abriel Thrash made her mark in the high jump, finishing fourth with a height of 1.60m. Remi Murray had an impressive showing in the pole vault, clearing 3.45m for second place.

In the shot put, Eve Brennan placed 22nd and Thrash placed 24th and posted throws of 12.33m and 12.09m.

Next Up 
The Storm will travel to Lincoln, Nebraska to compete in the Nebraska Tune-Up hosted by the Cornhuskers Friday, February 21.
