Storm Compete in Magnolia at GAC Outdoor Championships

SNU Track and Field compete at conference track meet at Southern Arkansas

MAGNOLIA, Ark. - The Crimson Storm headed to the campus of Southern Arkansas to compete in the Great American Conference Outdoor Championships. The Storm was able to snag numerous All-GAC awards and top finishes.

The Crimson Storm women finished the GAC Championships earning an eighth place team finish with a score of 30 points.

Abriel Thrash led the way for the women as she earned the GAC Outdoor Championships Women's MVP. Thrash broke her very own personal, SNU, and GAC Heptathlon record after a 5179 mark. She also earned an NCAA Provisional after she placed first in all events but two. 

Thrash also competed in the high jump earning a second place finish with a 1.66m mark to earn All-GAC First Team honors. She then finished fourth in the long jump with a mark of 5.26m to grab All-GAC Second Team honors. She rounded out her success with a seventh-place finish in the javelin with a 30.71m mark to earn All-GAC Honorable Mentions honors.

Carissa Burns earned a top-10 finish in the 100m race after she posted a time of 12:44. Cheyanne Gaymon snagged a seventh-place finish in the 100m hurdles to earn All-GAC Honorable Mention honors. 

Eve Brennan rounded out the top-10 finishes for the Storm women after she earned a tenth-place finish in the discus with a 37.58m mark.

Both SNU women's relay teams earned All-GAC honors. The 4x100m relay finished seventh earning them All-GAC Honorable Mention and the women's 4x400m relay finished sixth earning them All-GAC Second Team honors.

The SNU men also earned a few top-10 finishes as they finished the meet in seventh place. 

CaLee Williams earned a tenth-place finish in the 100m race with a time of 11.05. Williams also earned top-10 finishes in the long jump and triple jump after he finished fifth in both to earn All-GAC Second Team and personal bests.

Maximus Washington earned an eighth-place finish in the 400m after posting a time of 49.91. Jo'Quan Howard also earned a top-10 finish after he placed tenth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.30.

Malachai Allen finished seventh in the 400m hurdles with a time of 59.10 to earn All-GAC Honorable Mention honors. 

The 4x400m relay team of Scott Lynch, Ryan Audette, Terrance Green, and Maximus Washington finished second to earn All-GAC First Team honors. The men's 4x100m relay earned a third place finish earning them All-GAC First Team Honors as well.

Colter Bufford earned a fourth-place finish in the javelin with a 57.16m mark to earn All-GAC Second Team honors.

Brendan Cravens rounded out the success for the SNU men after he finished fifth in the decathlon earning All-GAC Second Team honors and an NCAA provisional.

The Crimson Storm also had four tabbed as Distinguished Scholars: Eve Brennan, Elora Jones, Will Ramirez, and Dylan Warden.

The Storm will now wait to see if they are eligible to compete in the NCAA Championships on May 23-25 at Emporia State University.
