Storm See Success at Ford Mastin Twilight Meet

SNU Track and Field compete at Oklahoma Baptist bringing home multiple top-10 finishes

SHAWNEE, Okla. - The Southern Nazarene Track & Field squad returned to Oklahoma Baptist to compete in the Ford Mastin Twilight meet. The Crimson Storm competed against numerous GAC squads as well as some NAIA talent.

The SNU women grabbed numerous top-10 finishes Thursday afternoon at OBU. Carissa Burns grabbed a fourth-place finish in the women's 100m with a time of 12.06. 

Abriel Thrash grabbed four top-10 finishes on the day, two of those being first place. She finished first in the high jump and javelin. She cleared 1.66m in the high jump and hit a mark of 32.19m in the javelin. She also finished fifth in the 100m hurdles and ninth in the 400m.

Cheyanne Guymon also competed in the 100m hurdles as she finished closely behind Thrash in seventh with a time of 16.00. 

Elora Jones snagged a tenth-place finish in the 800m with a time of 2:35.11. Isabel Lynch continued to see success in the 1500m as she finished fifth with a time of 5:10.98. 

Noelle Brezillac earned a fourth-place finish in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:16.87. 

Eve Brennan rounded out the Storm women as she finished with a mark of 35.94m in the discus, good enough for an eighth-place finish. She also claimed a seventh-place finish in the hammer event with a personal best 40.68m mark. 

The Storm men also collected a handful of top-10 finishes in Shawnee. CaLee Williams and Edward Thomas highlighted the men's 100m. Williams finished second with a time of 10.68 and Thomas finished close behind in fifth with a time of 11.01.

Jose Ortiz earned an eighth-place finish in the 200m with a time of 22.64. 

Scott Lynch took fifth place in the 400m with a time of 51.40. Ortiz followed suit with a sixth-place finish and a time of 51.44.

Austin Miller posted a time of 2:01.55 in the 800m to earn a seventh-place finish. Kieth Howerton followed close behind with a tenth-place finish. 

Daniel Ponce led the Storm in the 1500m race with a fifth-place finish and a time of 4:12.92. 

The SNU men's 4x400m relay team of Scott Lynch, Ryan Audette, Maximus Washington, and Jose Ortiz earned a second-place finish with a time of 3:24.25. 

Colter Bufford had three top-10 finishes on the day. He earned a fifth-place finish in the shot put with a personal best 13.77m mark. He also earned a personal best in the discus with a mark of 38.97 good for a fourth-place finish. He finished off his day with a first-place finish in javelin with another personal best of 58.49m. 

The Crimson Storm squad will look to use all of the momentum and success from the Ford Mastin Twilight meet as they get ready to head into their final regular season meet of the season before they head to the Great American Conference meet in Magnolia, Arkansas.
