Storm Open Outdoor Season at UNT

Track and Field competes at the Bill Schmidt Classic in Denton, Texas

DENTON, Texas - The Crimson Storm Track and Field team opened up their outdoor season at the University of North Texas. The Storm participated in the Bill Schmidt Classic as they competed against Division I, Division II, NAIA, and junior college talent from across the country. 

The Storm women saw a good amount of success over the weekend. Elora Jones collected a top 10 finish in the Women's 1500m race. She finished tenth with a time of 5:11.42. 

Abriel Thrash continued to shine as she picked up a ninth-place finish in the Women's 100m Hurdles with a time of 15.26. Thrash also finished fourth in the Women's High Jump with a 1.60m mark.

The Storm men were highlighted by a few top-10 finishes as well. Colton Sydnes finished eighth in the Men's High Jump with a 1.80m mark. Kielon McQuarters also snagged a seventh-place finish in the Men's Long Jump with a 6.63m mark. 

Austin Miller collected a fifteenth place finish in the Men's 800m race as he competed against 50 other athletes in the event. He posted a time of 1:59.75 to finish in the top-20 of the event.


Next Up

The Storm will compete in the Bison Relays March 29-30 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. The distance events will take place on Friday, March 29th and the sprints and field events will take place Saturday, March 30th.
