SHAWNEE, Okla. — Southern Nazarene Track and Field competed in Oklahoma Baptist's seasonal Bison Relays event to open the outdoor portion of their season. Both the women and the men saw excellent representation in numerous events, gaining multiple top-5, top-10, and top-20 finishes.
Senior Madalyn Harper showed out on the women's side, racing to a top-5 finish in the 800 meter run. Harper finished second out of 23 total runners, posting a time of 2:20.08. Harper also outperformed 20 other runners in the 1500 meter run with a 4th place finish and a time of 4:50.66.
Teammate Sabbatha Taylor ran her way to a top-10 finish in the 1500 meter run, placing 10th with a time 5:03.97
Carissa Burns had great showing the the sprint events, finishing within the top-20 in both the 100 and the 200 meter events at 12th (12:34) and 16th (26.15), respectively.
Miracle Blackshire represented the Storm well in a couple of events, finishing 24th (27.11) in the 200 meter run and 8th (4' 8.25") in the high jump.
Lauren Davidson was another top-20 finisher, finishing 20th in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:06.86.
The men's side was led by the top-5 performance of senior Darrius Blackshire who placed 4th in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 54.44.
Senior Ryan Audette represented SNU in multiple events, finishing within the top-10 in both the 200 and 400 meter races. Audette placed 7th out of 55 in the 400 (49.79) and 8th of 46 in the 200 (22.18).
Audette and Blackshire accompanied Scott Lynch and Malachi Allen in the 4x400 relay where hey finished 5th of 14 with a time of 3:25.68.
Lynch, Blackshire, and Audette ran with Calee Williams in the 4x100 event to finish 4th of nine with a time of 42.37.
Joel Haynes and William Ramirez also saw top-10 finishes as they placed side by side in the 1500 meter run, placing 14th (4:14.69) and 15th (4:14.89), respectively.
Southern Nazarene will look to improve on these times and placings as they prepare for the KT Woodman meet in Wichita, Kansas April 7th and April 8th.
