SNU Opens Up Indoor Season at the Shocker Multi

The Storm saw great success at Wichita State to begin their indoor season

WICHITA, Kan. - The Crimson Storm opened up their indoor Track and Field season competing in the Shocker Multi hosted by Wichita State. 

The Storm had two women compete in the pentathlon. Abriel Thrash and Harlie Leep both competed for SNU as they went head to head with Wichita State and Fort Hays State. Both Thrash and Leep participated in 60m Hurdles, High Jump, Shot Put, Long Jump, and 800m. 

Thrash saw great success coming in second place overall after 60m Hurdles and Shot Put. Leep found herself in ninth place on the leaderboard after the first two events. After four events, Thrash checked in at second and Leep remained in ninth. After all five events, Thrash tallied 3,453 points to snag a third-place finish and break her previous record. Leep finished eleventh with 2,176 points. 

Southern Nazarene had four men compete in the heptathlon. Jessiah Burris, Colter Bufford, Brendan Cravens, and Dylan Warden. The Storm competed in six events including 60m, Long Jump, Shot Put, High Jump, 60m Hurdles, Pole Vault, and 1000m. 

Burris led the way for SNU after the first two events checking in at sixth, while Warden was close behind in seventh. Bufford won the Shot Put with a 13.00m mark. Cravens found a spot in the top five of the High Jump with a 1.83m mark. After all six events, Burris finished seventh overall and became the first male indoor record holder in school history with 3,806 points. Bufford checked in at ninth on the leaderboard with a score of 3367 points. Craven followed in eleventh with 3,231 points and Warden in twelfth with 3,124 points. 

Next Up

The Crimson Storm will head to Norman, OK to compete in the J.D. Martin Invitational. The meet is hosted by the University of Oklahoma on December 9.
