LINCOLN, Neb. — Southern Nazarene's Men's and Women's Track teams saw a new state this season as they headed up to University of Nebraska-Lincoln to compete in their Nebraska Tune Up meet.
To start off the women, Madalyn Harper had an outstanding mile run, achieving her personal best, once again, with a top-5 5:06.39 time.
A couple of Storm members were just shy of a top-10 placement in the 60 meter dash as Elora Jones and Morgan James placed 11th (8.02) and 13th (8.05), respectively. Lyric Henry also represented in this event, with a time of 8.23.
Jones also raced in the 800 meter run, placing 16th with a time of 2:29.27. Sabbatha Taylor also represented, placing 20th with a time of 2:33.23, as did Tiffany Watson, who ran a time of 2:45.96. Carissa Burns led the way in the 200 meter run, placing 11th with a time of 26.39. James finished 14th (26.53), and Henry finished with a time of 28.22.
The men represented in multiple events as well this meet.
D'Kari Smith led the way for the men as had a top-10 finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.22. He placed 8th out of 20 competitors.Scott Lynch placed 11th (22.88), Ryan Audette placed 14th (23.04), Malachi Allen placed 17th (23.33), and Cedric Petties placed 19th (23.78).
Darrius Blackshire finished 12th in the 60 meter dash with a time 7.32 as he was the only runner for the Storm in this event. Joel Haynes and William Ramirez finished neck and neck in the mile run, placing 28th (4:39.13) and 29th (4:39.96), respectively. Lynch was just shy of a top-10 placing in the 400 meter dash, as he finished 12th with a time of 51:41, while Cedric Petties finished 16th (53.45).
Blackshire as well as Ryan Audette represented in the 600 meter run, placing 4th (1:23.83) and 5th (1:28.26) respectively. Christian Escritt, Dennis Green, and Matthew Kletke all ran in the 800 meter event, placing 17th (2:01.19), 21st (2:07.32), and 23rd (2:10.02), respectively.
Zach McAlpin raced in the 3000 meter event, placing 23rd with a time of 9:14.52.
The Storm make their way to Kansas once again for the GAC Open the weekend of February 25th.
