KANSAS CITY, Mo. — For the first time in the Division II era, The Southern Nazarene University Men's Soccer team has entered the NCAA Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll this week at No. 24.
The last time Southern Nazarene was ranked inside the top-25 was 2008 when they broke into the NAIA Top 25 Poll, climbing as high as No. 3 that year.
Earlier this season, The Storm (5-3, 2-0 GAC) came close to upsetting No. 3 West Texas A&M (6-0), who was ranked No. 6 at the time, but fell short 1-0 in overtime.
SNU entered conference play last Thursday securing two victories against Ouachita Baptist and Harding and will match up with Northeastern State (4-4, 2-0 GAC) this Saturday to continue GAC competition.
Before climbing into the Top-25, Southern Nazarene was receiving votes for two consecutive weeks. As of today, the Storm make history where they sit at No. 24. They are the only other GAC school to be ranked besides No. 15 Fort Hayes State. Rogers State is also now receiving votes.
Northeastern State will host the Storm October 2nd at 7 p.m. to continue GAC play.
