OKLAHOMA CITY – The Southern Nazarene men's golf team opened their Fall season on Monday as they hosted the 2021 Great American Conference Preview at Lake Hefner (North Course).
After improving their first-round team score by 13 strokes, SNU finds themselves in an excellent spot entering tomorrow's final round. The Crimson Storm fired a tournament-best 6-under par in their second 18 holes on Monday as they are lurking in second place just three behind the leader in Harding with their 282 to close out the day.

Derrick Taylor has three players inside the top-10 of the leaderboard as sophomore
Brodey Claborn is tied for second place after firing rounds of 73-68. The 4-under 68 is a career-low for Claborn as his second round on Monday featured five birdies. Claborn turned to the back-nine with an even-par 36 before ripping off four birdies with no bogeys to come home in 32.
Closely behind Claborn is senior
Tristan Florence who also found an extra gear in his second round of the day. After carding a 75 in his opening round Monday, Florence also fired a 4-under 68 to join Claborn with the second-best round of the day. Florence's 143 total positions him in a tie for fifth place on the individual board and just four strokes back of the leader. His round of 68 featured four birdies and 1 eagle on the final hole of the day.
SNU got more strong perfromances out of senior
Zander Tway who was steady all day with rounds of 73-72. His 145 total places him tied for 10
th entering tomorrow's final round while junior
Will Coffman carded back to back rounds of 74 to sit tied for 18
th. Rounding out the Storm's top-five was sophomore
Noah Kern who is tied for 38
th after consecutive rounds of 78.
The Crimson Storm had four individuals competing in the Preview and two of them find themselves inside the top-30 entering the final day of action. Junior transfer
Grant Murphey posted rounds of 74-74 to sit in a tie for 18
th with Coffman, while another transfer
Jaxson Northcutt came in with rounds of 75-76 landing him 28
th.
Gunner Stugart and
Landon Hendrix were also in action for SNU as Stugart (75-78) is tied for 32
nd while Hendrix (75-79) is in 34
th.
Harding leads the team leaderboard after rounds of 289-285 to narrowly hold the overnight lead by three. Southern Nazarene is three shots ahead of third place Southeastern Oklahoma State and nine strokes ahead of fourth place Arkansas-Monticello.
Southeastern's Jordan Holifield sits atop the individual leaderboard and will sleep on a two shot lead over Claborn and Harding's Wilmer Haakansson.
Southern Nazarene's top-five will be in the final group off the tee tomorrow morning at Lake Hefner Golf Club with their tee times beginning at 9:20 a.m. with the final pairing going at 10:00 a.m.
