BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene's first win of the season came at just the right time as SNU picked up a 6-3 win over Ouachita Baptist in the home and Great American Conference opener.

The Crimson Storm (1-2, 1-0 GAC) had played two ranked teams to start the year to warm up for GAC play and were off to a quick start with a 2-1 lead after doubles.

The No. 10-ranked (Central Region) team of
Masha Andrianova and
Natalia Moreno remained unbeaten to start the year as they won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles.
Polina Chala and
Karina Kotova picked up an 8-1 win to move to 2-1 on the year. The only loss came at No. 3 doubles as
Taylor Sullivan and
Kaitlyn Atkeson fell 8-2.

In singles, No. 7 (Central Region) Andrianova extended her winning streak to 17 straight matches dating back to last season as she won in straight sets 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 singles. Chala and Kotova also won in straight sets at No. 3 and 4 singles as Chala won 6-1, 6-2, while Kotova won 6-1, 6-1. Atkeson fell 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 at No. 5 while Sullivan lost 7-5, 6-2 at No. 6.

The last match of the day came down to No. 2 singles and Moreno. The senior won the first set 6-4, but dropped the second 7-5 to force a 10-point tiebreaker. Moreno though picked up her first win of the season at singles with a 10-5 win in the tiebreaker.
