Box Score (Match 2) ABILENE, Texas — After dropping its first match of the NCCAA Central Region Tournament, Southern Nazarene bounced back with back-to-back wins over Colorado Christian and McMurry to close out the tournament.
The Crimson Storm (8-5) downed Colorado Christian, 6-3, before knocking off host McMurry, 5-3, in the final match.
Against CCU, SNU took a 2-1 lead through doubles as
Masha Andrianova and
Natalia Moreno scored an 8-1 win to move to 10-2 on the year at No. 1 singles.
Marina Shipilova and
Karina Kotova also picked up an 8-4 win at No. 2. The Storm defaulted at No. 3.
The Crimson Storm put it away in singles taking four matches. SNU won all four singles matches it took in straight sets. Andrianova won, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 while Moreno won 6-0, 6-1, at No. 2. Shipilova won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3 while Kotova won 6-1, 6-2, at No. 4.
Haley Cantwell took the only loss of the day at No. 5 falling 6-0, 6-1.
Against MCM, SNU again took the top two doubles and gave up a default at No. 3 doubles. Andrianova and Moreno won 8-3 before Shipilova and Kotova won 8-6 at No. 2. Andrianova kept her perfect record at No. 1 singles alive with a 6-1, 6-3 win. Moreno and Shipilova also won in straight sets at No. 2 and 3 singles. Moreno won 6-4, 6-1, while Shipilova won 6-1, 6-2. Kotova was down 6-4, 5-3 when the match ended. Cantwell also lost 6-0, 6-0.
