BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene dropped its first Great American Conference match of the year as No. 34 Arkansas Tech downed SNU 6-3, Monday afternoon.

The Crimson Storm (4-2, 2-1 GAC) got swept in doubles as the Golden Suns (9-2, 2-0 GAC) had two teams ranked in the top three in the Central Region in doubles.

No. 4-ranked Nozomi Matsuoka and Tamara Bell downed No. 7-ranked
Masha Andrianova and
Natalia Moreno at No. 1 doubles, 8-5, just after No. 3-ranked Bohdana Sardak and Olga Leyshyna defeated
Marina Shipilova and
Karina Kotova, 8-3.
Haley Cantwell and
Bekah Stewart also lost 8-1 at No. 3 doubles.

ATU picked up three quick matches in singles to seal it as Stewart and Cantwell both lost in straight sets at No. 5 and No. 6 singles and Shipilova went down 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3. SNU though won its final three matches, all in 10-point tiebreakers, at No. 1, 2 and 4 singles.

Andrianova, No. 5 in the region, held off No. 6 Matsuoka and rallied from being down. Andrianova lost the first set 7-5, but bounced back to take the second at 6-3 and then won the tiebreaker at 12-10. Moreno won the first set at 6-3 over Sardak, but lost 6-1 in the second. She also survived with an 11-9 win in the tiebreaker. Kotova won the first set 6-4, but lost 7-5 in the second. She picked up a 10-6 win in the tiebreaker to score the win.

Andrianova moved to 6-0 on the year in singles and 3-0 in the Great American Conference. Moreno has won three straight and is 5-1 on the year and also 3-0 in the GAC. The two have combined for a 5-1 record this season at No. 1 doubles, losing their first match Monday as they fell to 2-1.

The Crimson Storm now get set to travel to East Central, for a 1 p.m. GAC match Thursday.
