Southern Nazarene falls to Point Loma Nazarene in semifinals

Box Score WINONA LAKE, Ind. — Point Loma Nazarene shot 50 percent from the field and went 9-for-19 from 3-point range, and held Southern Nazarene to 40 percent from the field and 4-for-20 from beyond arc as SNU fell 68-54 in the semifinals of the NCCAA National Championship.
 
The loss breaks a four-game winning streak for the Crimson Storm (17-13) and puts SNU into the third-place game Saturday.
 
"Point Loma was better than us tonight," said SNU Head Coach Adam Bohac. "Give them credit. They guarded us hard and our dry spell on offense affected us on the defensive end and that was the game."
 
Quan Conner led the way for Southern Nazarene as the senior scored a game-high 18 points while CJ Smith had 11 points and seven rebounds. Antwone Jackson also had 10 points and three blocks while he went 5-for-8 from the field.
 
The Crimson Storm led by as much as seven early at 14-7 and were up 19-13 with 10:28 left in the first half. Point Loma though went on a 24-8 run to close the final 10 minutes and took a 37-27 lead at the half.
 
SNU cut it to 39-30 right out of the gate in the second half, but the Sea Lions went on an 11-4 run to take a 50-34 lead with 13:28 left.
 
The Crimson Storm were only able to get to the line seven times, hitting six, while the Sea Lions were 13-for-19 at the line.
 
Southern Nazarene will now play the loser of Grace (Ind.) Roberts Wesleyan Saturday at 12 p.m. in the third-place game.
