ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Southern Nazarene opened Great American Conference play with a 5-4 win over Henderson State, Friday afternoon.
 
The Crimson Storm (3-1, 1-0 GAC) took a 2-1 lead through doubles as Masha Andrianova and Natalia Moreno picked up an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles while Marina Shipilova and Karina Kotova scored an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles. Haley Cantwell and Bekah Stewart fell 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.
 
The Storm swept 1-3 singles in straight sets, to secure the win, but Henderson won the bottom half of the singles matches. Andrianova won 6-1, 6-1 while Moreno won 6-2, 6-1. Shipilova also won 6-1, 6-2.
 
Bekah Stewart lost 6-0, 6-2, at No. 5 singles while Haley Cantwell lost 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles. Karina Kotova also lost 6-4, 5-7 (10-5) at No. 4 singles.
 
The Crimson Storm now get set to play Ouachita Baptist, Saturday, at 10 a.m.
