Cameron Hands SNU its First Loss

Storm can't take down its second straight ranked opponent

BETHANY, Okla. —
Southern Nazarene took its first loss of the 2014 season as No. 36 Cameron took down SNU 7-2.
 
Masha Andrianova was the only Crimson Storm (2-1) player who picked up a win in both doubles and singles. She and her doubles' partner Natalia Moreno won 9-8 (7-5) in a tightly contested match at No. 1 doubles before Andrianova won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, over Angie Torres.
 
Marina Shipilova and Karina Kotova fell 8-5 at No. 2 doubles while Haley Cantwell and Bekah Stewart fell 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.
 
Moreno and Shipilova both tried to fight back each of their second sets, falling 7-5 in both, but lost in straight sets after giving up their first set. Moreno fell 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2 singles while Shipilova fell 6-0, 7-5 at No. 3. Kotova got swept at No. 4, falling 6-0, 6-0 and Stewart fell 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5. Cantwell also lost 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6.
 
Southern Nazarene will now prepare to open the Great American Conference season Friday and Saturday in Arkadelphia, Ark., against Henderson State and Ouachita Baptist.
