Southern Nazarene knocked off Henderson State Thursday night

Box Score BETHANY, Okla. — Aminata Fall pulled in a season-high 20 rebounds and scored 26 points while blocking six shots and shooting 11-for-23 from the field as Southern Nazarene earned a 95-87 Great American Conference win over Henderson State.
 
SNU (9-10, 6-7 GAC) started to pull away in the second half when they took an 82-65 lead with 6:08 left to play. The Reddies (12-8, 7-7 GAC) though, were able to make things interesting toward the end. With 2:17 left to play Jasmine Settles made a jumper cutting SNU's lead to six 90-84. The Crimson Storm found a way to answer by defensive stops and making free throws. SNU only allowed the Reddies to score three points the rest of the game and the Storm made five free throws to close out the game.
 
Fall's 26 points led all scorers.

"It was probably her best game of the year," said Head Coach Derek Dorris. "As far as all facets of the game, offense, defense, getting on the floor. She really played well and the others followed."
 
Kristin Milster tallied 21 points while shooting 8-for-13 from the field and grabbed four rebounds. Callee Cox scored 21 points while Ashleigh Hutchings scored a season-high 10 points and Abby Boyd notched nine. Danielle Gaddis scored six points and tied a career-high in rebounds with six while shooting 3-for-4 from the field. Henderson State's Aungelique Sledge scored 23 points after scoring 36 in the previous meeting between the two teams.
 
"Its important on a player like that to make sure she doesn't get momentum," said Dorris.
 
The Storm shot 54.3 percent from the field and outscored the Reddies 48-34 in the paint. SNU shot 5-for-17 from downtown shooting 29.4 percent and went 14-of-19 from the free throw line. The Storm also forced the Reddies into 22 turnovers.
 
"We were shooting a very high percentage inside the paint," said Dorris. "Anytime they're going to give us that we're going to continue to take it."
 
In the first half, SNU jumped out to a 19-point lead with 9:05 left to play. The Reddies then went on a 30-15 run to close out the half and only trailed 43-40 at the break. SNU shot 45.7 percent from the field in the half and went 9-for-10 from the free throw line shooting 90 percent. Fall scored eight of her 26 points in the first half and already had 12 rebounds and six blocks.
 
"We've had a good week of practice," said Dorris. "Last week it was hard to practice, we didn't know who was going to be there. For the first time in 10 days we were able to have some able bodies and do some stuff on the floor."
 
SNU will now host Great American Conference opponent Ouachita Baptist, Saturday, at 2 p.m.
