SHAWNEE, Okla. — Southern Nazarene is still looking for its first win of the season after the NAIA's No. 14 Oklahoma Baptist knocked off SNU 6-3 Thursday afternoon.
The Lady Bison took two doubles matches away from OBU as Anastatia Baranova and Lilian Fereirra defeated
Masha Andrianova and
Marina Shipilova 8-3 at No. 1 doubles and Ashlynn Abbe and Elisa Brito outlasted
Payton Bergmann and
Natalia Moreno, 8-6, at No. 3 doubles.
Deisi Bolivar and
Karina Kotova knocked off Mariana Rosa and Camden Rodriguez, 8-6 at No. 2.
Bolivar and Bergmann were the only two singles players to pick up wins for the Crimson Storm (0-3). Bolivar defeated No. 44 Mariana Rosa in straight sets 6-3, 6-4, while Bergmann beat Kelsi Lord, 6-6, 2-6, 6-3.
Baranova won a tight match at No. 1 singles over Andrianova 7-5, 7-6 (8-6) and No. 13 Lilian Fereirra downed Moreno in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. Elisa Brito also upended Shipilova in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3 while Abbe and Kotova went the distance as Abbe lost the first set 6-3 before winning the next two at 6-2, 6-2.
The Crimson Storm now take on Oklahoma Christian, Friday, at 3 p.m.
