EDMOND, Okla. — Southern Nazarene nearly knocked off the central region's 10
th-ranked East Central even with the absence of
Deisi Bolivar who was out with an illness. SNU though came up just short falling 5-4 to the Lady Tigers.
The Crimson Storm (2-7, 1-1 GAC) went into singles play down 2-1 after losing at No. 1 and 3 doubles.
Masha Andrianova and
Marina Shipilova fell 8-4 at No. 1 and
Payton Bergmann and Kim Wiedemann lost 8-5 at No. 3. SNU did pick up an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles as
Natalia Moreno and
Karina Kotova combined for their first win at No. 2 this season.
Moreno was also one of three wins at singles by the Storm. SNU took wins at 1, 2 and 3, but lost at 4, 5 and 6. Andrianova won 7-5, 6-0 at No. 1. Moreno won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2 and Shipilova won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3. Kotova lost 7-5, 6-2 at No. 4 while
Payton Bergmann fell 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5. Kim Wiedemann also lost 6-3, 7-5 at No. 6.
SNU will now play Harding, Tuesday, at 12 p.m.
