DURANT, Okla. — Southern Nazarene picked up its first win of the season and opened the Great American Conference season with an 8-1 win over Southeastern Oklahoma State.
The Crimson Storm (1-4, 1-0 GAC) took all but one match as it thumped the Savage Storm (6-8, 2-2 GAC).
Masha Andrianova and
Natalia Moreno both won in straight sets at No. 1 and 2 singles at 6-2, 6-2.
Deisi Bolivar won 7-5, 6-3 at No. 3 and
Payton Bergmann won 6-4, 6-4, at No. 6. The only loss in singles was at No. 5 as
Karina Kotova went down 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles, SNU lost just four sets total as Andrianova and Shipilova won 8-3 at No. 1. Kotova and Bolivar gave up just one set at No. 2, winning 8-1 and Moreno and Bergmann swept at No. 3, winning 8-0.
Southern Nazarene hits the road again when it travels to Texas A&M Kingsville, March 20, for a 12 p.m. game.
