Storm Rain 3-pointers

Southern Nazarene drained nine 3-points Saturday afternoon

Box Score ALVA, Okla. — Earning a road win in the Great American Conference is never an easy thing to do, but Southern Nazarene buried nine 3-pointers shooting 60 percent from behind the arc as the Storm earned their first GAC win of the season 78-64 over Northwestern Oklahoma State.
 
Aminata Fall led all scorers in the game netting 25 points. She also grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked four shots. Kristin Milster notched 19 points and went 3-for-4 from the 3-point line. Ashleigh Hutchings scored nine points and grabbed four rebounds while Abby Boyd pitched in seven points and hit two threes. Callee Cox and Katelyn Gorman scored six points a piece and Olivia Chapman netted four points and grabbed two rebounds.
 
The Crimson Storm (3-5, 1-2 GAC) took a 6-4 first half lead at the 17:35 mark and never looked back. SNU, went on a 12-2 run taking an early 18-6 lead over the Rangers. The Storm kept their foot on the pedal taking a 13 point lead at the 4:06 mark after Gorman drained a jumper in the paint. The Rangers (0-9, 0-4 GAC) got back to within ten before the half, but SNU still had a comfortable 39-29 lead as they went into the locker room.
 
SNU shot 57.7 percent from the field in the first half going 15-of-26. The Crimson Storm went 3-for-5 from beyond the arc and 6-of-8 from the charity stripe. SNU limited NWOSU to only 35.5 percent shooting in the half and forced the Rangers into ten turnovers. Fall scored 12 of her 25 points in the half and grabbed five rebounds.
 
The Storm controlled for most of the second half until the 10:31 mark when Ashley Pride made a layup bringing the Rangers within seven 49-42. SNU though, went on a 27-14 run taking a 76-56 lead with 2:25 left to play. The Storm held on from there to earn their third victory of the season.
 
SNU hit six of its nine threes in the second half going 6-for-10 from behind the arc. The Storm went to the free throw line 12 times and converted on nine of them shooting 75 percent. The Rangers were only able to hit one second half 3-pointer and SNU outrebounded them 15 to eight in the second half.
 
SNU will now host former Sooner Athletic Conference opponent Rogers State in a non-conference game, Saturday, at 3 p.m.
