Roger That; Storm Complete Comeback

Southern Nazarene earned its fourth victory of the season Saturday afternoon

Box Score BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene trailed 68-55 with 10:20 left to play in the second hal,f but put together a 30-10 run to close out the game and earned its fourth victory of the season in an 85-78 win over Rogers State.
 
Rogers State (2-7) took its first double-digit lead of the game at 66-55 with 10:48 left in the second half before taking its biggest lead of 13. The Crimson Storm (4-5) started their comeback at the charity stripe when Aminata Fall sank two free throws to cut the Hillcats lead to 11 at 68-57 at the 9:49 mark. SNU brought the lead back to single digits moments later after a jumper by Danielle Gaddis and another made free throw by Fall making the score 68-60. The Storm kept their pace getting within six at 72-66 before Abby Boyd drained a 3-pointer as she was getting fouled. Boyd made the free throw bringing the Storm within two at 72-70 with 4:32 left to play. SNU tied the game at 72-72 off of a layup by Krisin Milster at the 3:59 mark and took its first second half lead at 74-72 off of a jump shot from Fall. The Storm never let the Hillcats take the lead or tie things up again and closed the game on an 11-6 run earning the victory.

SNU shot 39.3 percent from the field in the second half hitting 11-of-28 shots and hit 17 second half free throws going 17-of-21 from the charity stripe. The Storm hit three second half 3-pointers going 3-for-9 from downtown.
 
Milster scored a career high 24 points and dished out a career high five assists. She also notched a career high in free throws made with 11 and shot 60 percent from the field going 6-for-10. Fall pitched in 24 points, 15 rebounds and was an efficient 8-for-16 from the field. She also blocked three shots and had two steals. Boyd scored a career high 14 points while shooting 50 percent from beyond the arc going 4-for-8 while Ashley Almond scored seven points and went 100 percent from the free throw line going 4-of-4.
 
SNU shot 45.5 percent from the field going 25-of-55 and hit nine 3-pointers shooting 9-for-22 from behind the arc. The Storm limited the Hillcats to only 31.8 percent shooting from the 3-point line and outrebounded Rogers State 41-33. SNU shot 33 free throws going 26-of-33 while the Hillcats only attempted 15 shots from the charity stripe going 9-for-15.
 
Rogers State led by as many as 10 at 20-10 in the first half before the Storm went on a 14-3 run to take their first lead of the night 24-23 with 10:41 left in the first half. SNU kept the momentum going taking a seven-point lead at the 8:26 mark but couldn't sustain it. Rogers State closed out the half on an 20-11 run taking a 45-43 at the half. SNU shot 51.9 percent from the field in the first half going 14-for-27. The Storm hit 75 percent of their free throws going 9-for-12 and hit six of their nine 3-pointers in the first half going 6-for-13 from behind the arc.
 
The Storm do not take the court again until Thursday, Jan. 2, as they travel to Ouachita Baptist for a Great American Conference matchup at 5:30 p.m.
