Bronchos Too Much For Storm

Central Oklahoma handed Southern Nazarene its third loss of the season Tuesday

Box Score EDMOND, Okla. — Central Oklahoma scored 29 points off the bench and held Southern Nazarene to only 31.7 percent shooting from the field as they handed the Crimson Storm a 78-65 loss.
 
With 17 minutes to play in the second half, the Storm (2-3) were trailing 49-30 before putting together an 18-6 run to cut the Bronchos lead to seven, 55-48. Unfortunately for the Storm, the Bronchos (4-0) responded with a 17-2 run to take a 72-50 lead with only 4:31 left to play. SNU was unable to respond and took its third loss of the season.
 
Callee Cox led the Storm with 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Kristin Milster scored 14 points shooting 5-for-6 from the free throw line and Aminata Fall pitched in 13 points while pulling in 15 rebounds. Katelyn Gorman shot 3-for-3 from the field scoring seven points and brought down five rebounds.
 
SNU fell behind early, and was forced to play from behind the entire game. UCO jumped out to a quick 11-4 lead with 15:12 left to play in the first half. The Bronchos kept that momentum throughout the half building their largest lead of the night 41-19 at the 2:33 mark. The Storm scored three baskets to close out the half and trailed 43-25.
 
The Bronchos hit six 3-pointers in the first half going 6-for-12 from behind the arc. UCO shot 42.9 percent from the field in the first half and only turned it over five times. SNU only converted 9-of-31 shots from the field shooting only 29 percent in the first half. UCO shot 40.3 percent from the field for the game and hit 45.5 percent of its 3-pointers going 10-for-22. The Storm shot ten more free throws then the Bronchos, going 20-for-29 at the charity striped shooting 69 percent. The Bronchos only attempted 19 free throws and hit 14 of them. Southern Nazarene only scored 13 points off the bench.
 
The Storm will now open up Great American Conference play at home against Arkansas Tech, Thursday, at 5:30 p.m.
