Oumoul Thiam goes so goes Southern Nazarene and the senior scored a game-high 21 points and had seven rebounds in a 66-56 win over Harding.
The win avenged an earlier loss in Searcy, Ark., and pushed the Crimson Storm (9-9, 6-6 GAC) back to .500 and moved them into solely into sixth place in the Great American Conference.
Thiam went 7-for-16 from the field and hit all six attempts from the charity stripe. She also had three assists and three steals.
Annie Kassongo added 14 points and four rebounds. The Crimson Storm overcame 17 first-half turnovers with a hot hand and defensive pressure. SNU fired 48 percent from the field going 12-for-25 and 4-for-8 from 3-point range. SNU held the Lady Bisons (12-6, 8-4 GAC) to just 34.4 percent in the first half and 2-for-9 from 3-point range.
That kept the Storm in the first half and down just three at halftime at 32-29. The Storm turned it over just seven times in the second half and forced 12 second-half turnovers by Harding. SNU opened the second half on an 8-2 run to lead 37-34 and never trailed from that point on.
Southern Nazarene now gets set to host Arkansas Tech for a 2 p.m. GAC game Saturday.
