Second half shooting woes cost SNU an upset bid

Box Score BETHANY, Okla. — Antwone Jackson scored a career-high 14 points and notched a career-high 11 rebounds for Southern Nazarene in a 71-58 loss to No. 24 Harding Thursday night.
 
The junior recorded his first double-double of the season as the Crimson Storm (10-8, 5-7 GAC) lost their first game at home since Jan. 5. Jackson also recorded three blocks and had 10 of his 11 boards on the offensive end. Ryan Aaron and Tyrone Lyons each scored 11 points as Aaron added five rebounds and four assists while Lyons had three board and two blocks.
 
Zach Roddenberry didn't have the season-high 32 points he did against SNU at Harding, but still scored a game-high 19 points and had six rebounds.
 
Southern Nazarene held a 36-30 lead at the half after shooting 42.9 percent from the floor and held the Bisons (17-3, 10-2 GAC) to just 32.1 percent from the field. Harding though shot 56 percent from the field in the second half and drained nine 3-pointers on the night. SNU on the other hand went just 9-for-34 from the field in the second half and hit just 2-for-14 from 3-point range.
 
The Storm out rebounded Harding 46-34 and had 29 offensive rebounds with 28 points coming off of second chances. The Storm also went just 8-for-16 at the line.
 
SNU led by as much as 13 in the first half at 29-16 with 5:03 remaining. Harding went on a 14-1 run to close out the half and started the second half with a 29-7 run to take its largest lead of the game at 59-43 with 8:43 left. The Storm came no closer than 11 the rest of the way.
 
Southern Nazarene will now host Arkansas Tech, Saturday, for a 4 p.m. conference contest
