Tyrone Lyons had 18 points off of the bench in the win

Box Score BETHANY, Okla. — It was a pretty good bet that if Southern Nazarene was going to get a win over one of the top rated defenses in the Great American Conference it was going to be an ugly one. Holding true to form SNU shot just 33.3 percent from the field and turned the ball over 18 times, but walked away with a 72-67 win over Ouachita Baptist.
 
The Crimson Storm (7-4, 2-3 GAC) picked up their second straight win and had three players in double figures on the night. Tyrone Lyons had a game-high 18 points and nine rebounds off of the bench. The senior forward had eight of points at the line, going 8-for-11. The senior also tied the school record for most blocks in a single game with five. 
 
Quan Conner added 14 points as he was a perfect 9-for-9 at the line. He also had four steals. Ryan Aaron also had 13 points and six rebounds.
 
Southern Nazarene shot as many free throws as it had rebounds. The Storm went 35-for-45 from the charity stripe. It was the fourth most made free throws in a single game in school history and the third most attempted free throws.
 
SNU outrebounded OBU 45-34 with 19 of those coming on the offensive glass. The Storm scored 18 points off second chances.
 
Neither team led by more than three as the two exchanged leads six times and tied eight times. The Storm led 26-24 with 2:30 left in the first half before OBU went on a 23-7 run, that extended into the second half, to take a 47-33 lead with 13:12 left. The Tigers led 52-41 with 9:57 to play when the Storm went on a 21-8 run to retake the lead at 62-60.
 
OBU went back up 66-63 with 2:03 to play, but Aaron hit four straight from the line to put SNU back up 67-66 with 1:23 left. Trey Mohair added a free throw to make it 68-66 before Lyons buried a shot clock buzzer beater with 10 seconds left to make it 70-66.
 
The Crimson Storm now get set to host Henderson State for a Saturday GAC contest at 4 p.m.
