Box Score DURANT, Okla. — Ryan Aaron scored a season-high 30 points and added seven rebounds for Southern Nazarene in an 82-78 loss at Southeastern Oklahoma State Saturday night.
The Crimson Storm (9-7, 4-6 GAC) nipped at the heels of the Savage Storm (10-5, 6-3 GAC) for most the second half never overtake SOSU in the final 10 minutes of the contest.
SNU took its last year at the 14:17 mark in the second half on a 3-point play by
Tyrone Lyons, but the lead was short live as SOSU scored the next five to retake the lead. Southern Nazarene tied it four more times, but never regained the lead.
Quan Conner buried a pair of free throws with 1:41 left to play to tie it at 76, but the Savage Storm nailed a 3-pointer on the next possession and held SNU at bay from there.
Aaron went 10-for-19 from the field while SNU as a team went 28-for-61 (45.9 percent) and shot 9-for-18 from 3-point range. SOSU shot 51.8 percent from the field and 57.1 percent (8-for-14) from beyond the arc. The Savage Storm also scored nine more points off of turnovers than SNU as they scored 21 off of 17 Southern Nazarene turnovers.
Conner did add 16 points and four rebounds on 4-of-8 shooting from the field. The junior went 4-for-7 from 3-point range and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe. Lyons chipped in with nine points and nine board while Burford at eight points and six rebounds.
Southern Nazarene will now head to Southwestern Oklahoma State, Thursday, for a 7:30 p.m. game to start the second half of the GAC season.
