Southern Nazarene stayed unbeaten at home with a 3-1 win over Ouachita Baptist

Hope recorded her second double-double of the season.
Box Score BETHANY, Okla. — Jamie Hope and Natalia Oliveira combined for 29 kills and 33 digs as Southern Nazarene survived a bit of a scare in a 3-1 (25-20, 24-26, 25-21, 25-23) win over Ouachita Baptist.
 
The Crimson Storm (5-9, 3-1 GAC) got a season-high 19 kills, just two short of a career-high, out of Oliveira and 23 digs as the senior took over from start to finish. Hope also had a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs along with a pair of blocks.
 
Taylor Chase notched 45 assists on the night and added eight digs, three blocks and three aces. Emily Troup also tied a career-high with 19 digs.
 
SNU held the Lady Tigers to just a .130 clip (47-25-169) and out dug them 82-78.
 
The Crimson Storm raced out to an 8-3 lead to start the match and forced an OBU timeout. The Lady Tigers though never trailed by more than five at any point in the set and eventually closed it to 20-19. SNU though answered with a 5-1 run that included a pair of kills from Oliveira. The senior had six kills and seven digs in the first set alone.
 
SNU led early in the second set as well at 5-2 and led 13-11 midway through the second when the Lady Tigers used a 6-2 run to lead 17-15. A Kira Roberts and Ellen Martin kill helped the Storm tie it at 18. The Storm trailed 21-19 when an Oliveira kill set off a string of three straight by the Storm to give SNU a 22-21 lead. The two had three more ties before OBU broke a 24-24 tie with two straight to tie it at 1-1.
 
Southern Nazarene jumped out to a 9-3 lead, but Ouachita stormed back with an 11-3 run to take a 14-12 lead. Jamie Hope then capped a 6-2 run with a kill as SNU took an 18-16 lead and forced an OBU timeout. The Storm extended their lead to 20-16 and cruised the rest of the way to a 2-1 match lead.
 
There were 12 ties in the final set before a Chase ace broke a 21-21 tie and SNU didn't trail from there. The ace came near the end of a 5-0 run by SNU as it trailed 21-18. A Chase kill sparked the run before an Oliveira kill capped it to give SNU a 23-21 lead. OBU cut it to 23-22 before another Chase kill made it 24-22 and then Ellen Martin ended the match with a kill.
 
The Crimson Storm will turn right around and go for its second straight conference win when it hosts Henderson State, Saturday, for a 12 p.m. contest.
