Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BETHANY, Okla. — There's not much like sleeping in your own bed, and Southern Nazarene is proof of that in the early 2012 volleyball season. SNU picked up its second GAC win and its fourth win overall in a doubleheader sweep over Northwestern Oklahoma State and Southwest Baptist (Mo.).

The Crimson Storm (4-8, 2-0 GAC) made quick work of Northwestern, 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-16), before dispensing of Southwest Baptist, 3-1 (25-18, 22-25, 25-17, 25-20).

In the opener, nearly four different Storm posted 10 digs as Jamie Hope, Natalia Oliveira and Sheridan Steele all had 10 digs while Ellen Martin had nine. The Crimson Storm as a team had 49 digs. Nicole Greenway also had a trio of blocks while Cortney Sheid had two. Oliveira earned her second double-double of the year with a match-high 10 kills and also had a pair of aces. Taylor Chase dished out 26 assists and served two aces as well.

SNU cruised in the opening set using an 18-6 run through the first to take a 1-0 lead. Oliveira had seven of her 10 kills in the first set alone. Northwestern jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the second before a Greenway kill sparked a 14-4 run and SNU didn't look back in taking a 2-0 match lead. The Rangers were within five late in the third at 18-13, but the Storm closed out the set with a 7-3 run and got back on the wining track.

It was Oliveira again in the second match of the night as the senior notched her third double-double of the year that included a season-high 16 kills. The senior added a team-high 17 digs on the night to help propel SNU to its second straight win. Greenway joined Oliveira with 13 kills as the sophomore hit .360 (13-4-25) on the night and added three blocks.

Chase was dealing out assists like a seasoned veteran as the freshman posted 45 on the night and added six digs and three blocks as well. Jamie Hope was just three kills short of a double-double with seven to go with 12 digs and tied a season-high with six blocks. Steele had a career-high 14 digs also. Kaitlyn Belanger had nine digs while Ellen Martin and Kira Roberts each had eight.

SNU out dug SBU, 77-69, and held the Bearcats to a .060 clip.

The Storm broke open the first set on three straight kills from Greenway as SNU moved out to a 15-10 lead. SBU cut it to four once, but came no closer than that the rest of the way. The Storm led 15-13 midway through the second, but an 8-2 run gave the Bearcats a 21-17 lead. SNU answered with a 4-1 run capped by an Oliveira kill to make it 22-21 and were down 23-22 before SBU closed it out with the final two points. The Storm though controlled the final two sets from start to finish to make it 2-0 on the night.

Southern Nazarene will now get set to head to Southwestern Oklahoma State, Tuesday, for a 7 p.m. GAC contest.
