Southern Nazarene knocked off USAO in the first round of the SAC Tournament

West notched his fifth 20-point game of the season.
Box Score SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark.— Jon West and Horace McGloster scored a combined 39 points and went 16-for-24 from the field as No. 23 Southern Nazarene knocked off Science & Arts, 68-60, in the quarterfinals of the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament.
 
The fourth-seeded Crimson Storm (22-9) had been swept by the fifth-seeded Drovers in the regular season, but thanks to a game-high 22 points from West and 17 from McGloster SNU advances to the semifinals of the SAC Tournament and should have solidified a bid to the Buffalo Funds Men's Basketball National Championship. West added seven runs and four assists while McGloster notched his sixth double-double of the season with 10 rebounds. Tyrone Lyons had 10 points while Ryan Aaron added eight.
 
The Crimson Storm held the SAC Player of the Year Kyle Hunt to just 14 points on just 6-of-13 shooting from the field. The Crimson Storm held USAO to 37.3 percent from the floor while shooting 46.7 percent (28-for-60) from the field. The Storm scored over half of their points in the pain with 40 and SNU scored 15 points off of 13 offensive rebounds. SNU also held the Drovers' bench to just five points.
 
SNU jumped out to a 22-10 lead after when Ryan Aaron got a 9-3 run going, but that was the biggest lead of the night and USAO stayed within striking distance the whole way. The Drovers cut it to 23-19 with 5:08 left in the first, but went on an 8-2 run capped by a West jumper to lead 31-21. SNU led 34-25 before Zacharias Lewis buried a last second trey to make it a 34-28 lead at the half.
 
The Storm matched its biggest lead of the game twice in the second half, but USAO kept chipping away. The Drovers came as close as five at 56-51, but that was as close as they came.
 
The Crimson Storm will now play Oklahoma Baptist, Friday, at 8 p.m. in the semifinals.
