West scores career-high for SNU in loss to No. 10 Rogers State

West has posted a career-high in scoring twice this season.

CLAREMORE, Okla. — Jon West scored a career-high 26 points for No. 23 Southern Nazarene in an 88-81 loss at No. 10 Rogers State.

The loss locks the Crimson Storm (20-9, 13-8 SAC) in fourth in the Sooner Athletic Conference Standings as they carry a two-game lead on Lubbock Christian heading into the final game of the season.

West went 7-for-13 from the floor and was a perfect 10-for-10 at the line. He also hit a pair of 3-pointers. Tyrone Lyons also scored a career-high 18 points as he went 9-for-18 from the field. Daniel White and Horace McGloster each totaled double-doubles as White scored 11 points and pulled down a career-high 13 rebounds while McGloster was just two points shy of a season-high with 16 and he also had 10 rebounds.

Rogers State turned the ball over just seven times while SNU more than doubled the Hillcats with 15 turnovers. RSU also shot over 50 percent from the floor going 31-for-61 and outscored the Storm's bench 38-7.

The Crimson Storm dominated the boards pulled down 41 rebounds with 15 coming off the offensive end. SNU scored 22 of its points off second chances. Five difference players scored in double figures for the Hillcats as they head into the final game of the regular season tied for second in the SAC.

Neither team led by more than six and SNU and Rogers exchanged eight leads in the first half alone. The two traded leads 14 times the entire game. The Storm held an early lead at 10-6, but the Hillcats went on a 13-3 run to lead 19-13. Rogers held the lead until West buried a trey to spark a run of seven straight by the storm to retake the lead at 25-23 with 6:57 left in the first. SNU held a 32-31 with lead with 4:04 play when the Hillcats went on a 10-4 run to lead 41-36 with 20 seconds left, but McGloster sank a 3-pointer just before the horn to bring SNU within two at the break.

The Storm looked to start gaining a foot hold on Rogers when White scored back-to-back buckets in the paint to give SNU a 55-52 lead with 13:52 left, but RSU's Kendrell Thompson got a run going for the Hillcats with two straight treys and then completed the 12-2 run with a jumper in the paint. Thompson scored 10 of those points in that run as RSU took a 64-57 lead with 11:36 left.

Rogers pushed the lead out to 69-59 with 8:32 on the clock, but SNU still didn't go away. McGloster hit a pair from the line to cap a 10-2 run as SNU got within three at 72-69 before Lyons cut it to three again at 74-71 with 4:49 left, but the Storm never could close the gap completely.

Southern Nazarene will now close out the season Saturday when its hosts John Brown for a 5 p.m. game. It will be senior night inside the Sawyer Center as SNU will honor its seniors after the women's game.
