Box Score BETHANY, Okla. — It's not often a single player hits six 3-pointers in a single game. It's even more rare that three different players hit the same feat all in one season. For the third time this year Southern Nazarene had a player bury six treys in a 79-61 win over Saint Gregory's.
Oumoul Thiam hit a career-high six 3-pointers, four in the first half, as she scored a game-high 21 points for the 17
th-ranked Crimson Storm (19-7, 13-5 SAC). The junior guard didn't miss a shot from outside in the first 20 minutes and finished 6-for-10 from 3-point range and 7-for-13 overall.
Thiam was one of four Storm in double figures as both
Abbey Marra and
Logan Martin added 16 points. Mara added six rebounds and two assists while Martin dished out six assists and pulled down four rebounds.
Sharmeda Johnson also notched 16 points and seven rebounds. She was 4-for-8 from the field and a perfect 5-for-5 at the line.
The Storm shot 44.3 percent from the field and were 9-for-25 from 3-point range. SNU also scored 19 points off of 20 Lady Cavs' turnovers.
SNU opened the game with a 12-2 run and didn't let up the entire first half. The Storm were 7-for-12 from 3-point range in the opening stanza and shot 54.5 percent from the field. SNU led 17-8 with 14:21 left in the first when Martin buried one of her two 3-pointers in the first half to spark a 14-6 run to lead 31-14. SNU pushed it to a 48-26 lead right before the half before taking a 48-27 lead at the half.
The Storm stretched the lead to 52-27 early in the second when before SGU scored 10 straight to cut it to 52-37 with 15:18 left. SNU pushed it back to 58-38, but the Lady Cavs answered right back with 10 straight again to cut it to 58-48 with 9:10 remaining.
That was as close as SGU came as SNU used an 11-1 run capped by another Thiam trey to lead 69-50 and held Saint Greg's at bay from that point on.
The Crimson Storm now get set to hit the road to Northwestern Oklahoma State, Thursday, for a 6 p.m. game.
