Box Score BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene shot a season-high 85.2 percent from the free-throw line as SNU picked up a 63-53 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State.
The Crimson Storm (4-6, 1-3) hit 23 of their 27 attempts from the charity stripe on their way to picking up the first win of the conference season.
Oumoul Thiam scored a game-high 18 points and was just one rebound shy of a double-double with nine. Thiam had over half of her points at the line, going a perfect 10-for-10.
Aminata Fall nearly had a triple-double with 12 rebounds, eight points and eight blocks.
Annie Kassongo had 12 points and six boards while
Miranda Taylor had 11 points and seven rebounds off of the bench.
It was the line the saved the Storm. SNU shot just 35.3 percent from the field and 26.7 from 3-point range. The Storm also turned it over 18 times. The Crimson Storm also out rebounded the Rangers 49-33.
Northwestern led for a majority of the first half and led by as much as seven. SNU didn't even take its first lead until the 3:33 mark when Thiam put SNU up 25-24.
Marsha Durr added two free throws in that stretch to complete a 13-2 run and gave SNUYU a 28-24 lead with 2:44 left in the half.
The Storm took a 33-31 lead into the break and pushed it out to 39-32 with a 6-1 run to open the half. The Rangers cut the lead to one twice, and were down just 50-47 when a Thiam trey ignited a 7-0 run to lead 57-47. Southern Nazarene held it from there to pick up the win.
The Crimson Storm now take the Christmas break and will return to action Jan. 3 when they host Ouachita Baptist, for a 5:30 p.m. GAC contest.
