Southern Nazarene Drops GAC Opener

Arkansas Tech's second half run too much for Storm

Conner hit two big threes late, but ATU closed it out with free throws.
Box Score RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. — Ryan Aaron scored a game-high 20 points for Southern Nazarene in a 72-67 loss at Arkansas Tech.
 
The Crimson Storm (3-2, 0-1 GAC) led 54-42 at the 13-minute mark in the second half, but the Wonder Boys outscored SNU 30-13 down the stretch.
 
SNU had a chance late as Quan Conner drained a pair of 3-pointers to cut the deficit to 68-67, but ATU hit four straight free throws to seal it.
 
Conner finished with 16 points and four assists while Brady Burford had 15 points and five rebounds. Tyrone Lyons also had 14 points and six rebounds. SNU and ATU had identical shooting percentages at 46.3 as both went 25-for-54 from the field. Both teams also had 11 turnovers and 32 rebounds.
 
The difference came beyond the arc as ATU went 7-for-12 from 3-point range while SNU went 5-for-17. The ATU bench also outscored SNU 26-16.
 
Southern Nazarene will now travel to Harding to play a 4 p.m. SAC contest Saturday.
