Box Score BETHANY, Okla. — So much for unlucky 13. Southern Nazarene got a school-record 10 blocks and a triple-double out of
Annie Kassongo in a73-68 win over Oklahoma Christian Tuesday night to win its 13
th straight game over the Eagles.
Kassongo broke her own record set last year of seven blocks and added 14 points and 12 rebounds for the trifecta. The senior went 7-for-10 from the field and scored eight of those 14 points in the first half.
Oumoul Thiam recorded her second straight 30-point game as the senior dropped 31 on OC. The senior went 13-for-22 from the floor, 3-for-7 from 3-point range, and pulled down seven rebounds. She also dished out three assists.
Marsha Durr added six assists and nine rebounds.
The Crimson Storm shot 47.5 percent (29-61) form the field and buried six treys. SNU held OC to 30.8 shooting from the field. SNU was just two blocks off a school-record with 13.
The winning streak is the second longest in school history and dates back to the 2007 season.
OC led 17-13 early in the first half when a Thiam three started a 17-3 run to put SNU up 30-20. SNU took its biggest lead of the half at 40-27, before the Lady Eagles scored four straight to cut the lead to 40-31 at the break.The Storm took its biggest lead of the game at 59-38 with 13:19 left to play, but Oklahoma Christian started chipping away at the lead and used a 19-2 run to cut it to 61-57 with just over five minutes remaining.
Miranda Taylor stopped the bleeding with a trey to make it 64-57 and Kassongo gave more breathing room with a bucket in the paint to make it 66-57. The Lady Eagles cut to 71-68 with just three seconds left, but Thiam sank two free throws to put it away.
The Crimson Storm now get set to head to the Grand Canyon Classic, Friday and Saturday, in Phoenix, Ariz.
