Brewing Up a Win

Southern Nazarene rolled in a big way over Mid-America Christian

Brewer had 12 of SNU's 53 points off of the bench.
Box Score BETHANY, Okla. — The train continues to roll down the tracks for No. 14 Southern Nazarene and is building steam as hit the halfway point of the Sooner Athletic Conference season with a 93-64 win over Mid-America Christian.
 
For the fifth time this season, the Crimson Storm (15-4, 8-3 SAC) posted five players in double figures. In all, 12 different players got on the board and SNU was just three points away from having seven players in double figures.
 
Ryan Aaron led the way with 17 points, two rebounds, two assists and three steals as the junior helped the Storm to its third straight win and sixth in seven games. He was 6-for-9 from the field and 5-for-6 at the free-throw line.
 
SNU closes the halfway point in third place in the Sooner Athletic Conference with a 1.5 game lead over Science & Arts.
 
Robert Brewer also had a pair of career-highs with 12 points and six assists while Aaron Jones also contributed with 10 points. Neither player missed a shot as Brewer went 5-for-5 from the field and Jones went 4-for-4. Jones also hit both free-throw attempts. Those two, combined with Aaron, were 39 of SNU 53 points off of the bench.
 
Horace McGloster and Jon West both scored 10 points as McGloster pulled down six rebounds and had four assists while West had five boards and two assists. Daniel White chipped in with nine points and Tyrone Lyons had eight.
 
SNU shot 62.1 percent (36-for-58) from the field, the second best this season, and drained eight 3-pointers, just one off of the season-high. Both marks were conference season-highs for SNU.
 
Despite turning the ball over 20 times, SNU gave up just six points off of turnovers. The Storm though made MACU pay for every turnover, scoring 29 points off of 24 turnovers from the Evangels. SNU also dominated the paint, out scoring MACU 50-28.
 
SNU led from start to finish and didn't waste any time getting out to a 24-9 lead early in the first half. The Storm stretched it to 20 at 38-18 with 7:29 left in the first half before closing the opening stanza with a 52-28 advantage. It was more of the same in the second half, as the Storm cleared its bench allowing all 15 players to play.
 
The Storm will now try to hold on to third place as it hosts USAO, Monday, for an 8 p.m. game. It will be the final weekday game for SNU this season.
