Box Score

BETHANY, Okla. — Just one game after No. 15 Southern Nazarene fired its worst percentage from the field in conference play, SNU answered the bell early and often Monday afternoon with its best shooting performance against a SAC opponent in an 80-59 win over Wayland Baptist.

The Crimson Storm (9-4, 3-2 SAC) shot 50 percent from both the floor and 3-point range, going 32-for-62 from the field and 7-for-14 from beyond the arc. The Storm hit five treys in the second half alone.

Four different Crimson Storm were in double figures as Oumoul Thiam led the way with 18 points and four assists. Thiam had 12 of those points in the second half as she went 8-for-14 from the field and 2-for-4 from downtown. Abbey Marra and Ashley Mantooth were a tough assignment in the post for Wayland Baptist as the two seniors combined for 29 points as Marra dumped in 15 while Mantooth had a season-high 14. Marra added none rebounds as well.

Logan Martin also chipped in with 11 points, eight assists and a pair of rebounds as she drained three 3-pointers. Annie Kassongo and Kristin Milster also scored eight points as well.

SNU led from start to finish and after the Storm opened the game with a 14-2 run, Wayland Baptist came no closer than eight the rest of the way. SNU led 20-6 early in the game when USAO scored six straight to make it 20-12, but Sharmeda Johnson started a 12-1 run to give SNU its biggest lead of the half at 32-13.

The Storm took a 44-28 lead into the half, but Wayland Baptist cut it to 11 a handful of times with the final time coming at 8:35 as SNU led 59-48. Milster and Thiam buried treys on either side of a 16-4 run to give SNU its biggest lead of the night at 75-52 with 3:50 left and ran away with it from that point on.

The Crimson Storm will now hit the road for the first time in four games as it travels to Oklahoma Christian, Thursday, for a 6 p.m. game.
