Storm Cloud Stars in Second Half

Southern Nazarene shut down the Stars offense in the second half

White recorded his fourth 20-point game of the season.
Box Score BETHANY, Okla. — There was no let down for No. 14 Southern Nazarene Thursday night as SNU shot 51.9 percent from the field and battled back from a halftime deficit to pick up a 76-70 win over Oklahoma City.
 
The Crimson Storm (14-4, 7-3 SAC) recorded the season sweep of the Stars and have won five of their last six.
 
Daniel White finished with a team-high 21 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field and was 7-for-9 at the free-throw line as well. He also added five rebounds and four steals. White had 14 in the first half alone. Jon West chipped in with 19 points and six rebounds while Tyrone Lyons had 12 points. Adrian Hunter also scored eight points with all of them coming in the second half.
 
Both teams shot over 50 percent in the first half as OCU carried a 41-40 lead into the locker room. The Stars went 16-for-32 from the field while SNU was just a shot better at 17-for32. It was the second half that made the difference as SNU stayed at 50 percent going 11-for-22 in the final 20 minutes and turned up the defensive pressure holding OCU to just 7-for-29 from the floor. The Storm forced 21 turnovers and had 23 points off of those turnovers.
 
The two teams exchanged 29 leads and neither team led by more than four points in the second half until Hunter buried a jumped at the 7:37 mark in the second half and sparked a 12-1 run by SNU. Lyons capped the run with another bucket to make it 72-63 with 4:04 left, but OCU closed the gap. SNU led 73-69 with 1:36 on the clock, but got three straight free throws from Hunter to put the game away.
 
Southern Nazarene will now travel to Mid-America Christian, Saturday, for a 5 p.m. SAC game.
