BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene got off to a hot start in Sooner Athletic Conference play as the Storm swept John Brown, 9-0, Tuesday before taking down No. 17 Oklahoma Baptist, 6-3, Thursday.

The 12th-ranked Crimson Storm (2-2) made quick work of the Golden Eagles, Tuesday, losing just four sets the entire day. Olga Kozhevnikova and Marina Shipilova took No. 1 doubles, 8-1. Deisi Bolivar and Hilary Galbraith won 8-0 at No. 2 while Viktoriya Lukinova and Laura Miller did the same at No. 3

Kozhevnikova won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 singles while Bolivar, Shipilova, Lukinova, and Kimberly Wiedemann all won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 through No. 5. Allison White also won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 6 to complete the sweep.

Against the Lady Bison, SNU dropped No. 1 and 2 doubles as Kozhevnikova and Shipilova fell 8-4 while Lukinova and Steffie Plaza lost 8-6. Bolivar and Galbraith picked up the final match, winning 8-1 at No. 3.

It was just the opposite in singles as SNU won No. 1 through No. 5. Kozhevnikova won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1. Bolivar dropped the first set 6-4 before rallying to take the next two at 6-2, 6-3 for the win at No. 2. Shipilova needed a tiebreaker in the second set as she won 6-2, 7-6 (7-1) at No 3 while Plaza won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4. Lukinova also won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 5. The only loss in singles came at No. 6 as Wiedemann fell 6-1, 6-2.
