BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene opened its women's tennis season this last week dropping a pair of matches to NCAA Division II members Central Oklahoma, 6-3, Tuesday and Arkansas Tech, 4-5, Saturday.

The Crimson Storm went nearly match for match in singles play against UCO as Olga Kozhevnikova, Deisi Bolivar and Viktoriya Lukinova all scored wins in singles play. Kozhevnikova defeated Eli Abramovic, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 1 while Bolivar knocked off Lacy Caldwell, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 3 and Lukinova won 6-4, 6-1 over Anna Kochigina at No. 5. Marina Shipilova went the full three sets with Julia Shviadok at No. 2 falling 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4). Antonela Rossini swept Steffie Plaza at No. 4, 6-4, 6-1, while Rose Cabato did the same to Hilary Galbraith at No. 6, 6-3, 7-5.

UCO though took all three doubles matches as Caldwel and Shviadok downed Kozhevnikova and Shipilova, 9-7, at No. 1 while Abramovic and Rossini beat Plaza and Lukiniova, 8-6 at No. 2 and Cabato and Kochigina defeated Bolivar and Galbraith, 8-4, at No. 3.

Against Arkansas Tech, SNU again split singles matches, but won No. 1 through 3 and dropped 4-6. Kozhevnikova defeated Mariel Alvarez, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 and Bolivar outlasted Maria Aleman, 7-5, 6-7, 6-2 at No. 2. Shipilova dropped her first set to Akanesi Fa at No. 3, 2-6, before winning the next two, 6-2, 6-3.

Plaza, Lukinova and Kimberly Wiedemann all lost their singles matches.

Bolivar and Galbraith were the only tandem to win a doubles match, winning 9-8 (7-4), over Brittany Turner and Michelle Yu.
