Crimson Storm Sweep Aggies in Midweek Doubleheader

SNU scores 14 runs in each game, powered by strong hitting and late-inning rallies

WOODWARD, Okla. - The Crimson Storm picked up a pair of wins in a midweek non-conference doubleheader against Oklahoma Panhandle State on Tuesday afternoon, sweeping the Aggies with two strong offensive performances in Woodard.

Game 1
Southern Nazarene (8-30, 1-23 GAC) came out swinging early and never let up, using a huge eighth inning to pull away for a 14-7 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State (11-27, 3-18 SAC).

The Storm struck first in the opening inning when Josh Bay launched a two-run home run to give SNU an early 2-0 lead. Southern Nazarene kept the pressure on, adding two more runs in the second on sacrifice flies from Cade Ross and Blake Brinkmeyer to extend the lead to 4-1.

After both teams traded runs and OPSU tied things up in the third, the Storm answered right back. SNU regained the lead in the fourth on a sacrifice fly from Kane Springer, making it 7-6.

The Aggies tied the game again in the sixth, but the Storm saved their biggest moment for late. In the eighth inning, Southern Nazarene exploded for seven runs, highlighted by a two-run single from Cade Ross, an RBI double from Springer, and a two-run single from Aiden McCullough to secure the 14-7 victory.

Dominic Garcia led the way with three hits and three runs scored, while McCullough and Ross each drove in runs. Clayton Ward earned the win in relief, shutting things down over the final innings.

Game 2
Southern Nazarene carried that momentum into game two, using another strong offensive showing to complete the sweep with a 14-7 win.

The Storm got on the board early with two runs in the first inning and broke things open in the fourth. Josh Bay delivered again with a two-run home run, helping SNU build a 5-2 lead.

Southern Nazarene continued to add on in the fifth with a three-run inning, highlighted by RBI hits from Ross and Brinkmeyer to push the lead to 8-3.

OPSU tried to rally, but the Storm answered once again. In the seventh inning, Bay crushed his second home run of the game, a three-run shot, while Brinkmeyer followed with a solo homer as SNU pulled away for good.

Bay had a huge game, finishing with five RBIs and two home runs, while Ross and Brinkmeyer each added hits and RBIs. Layton Reither picked up the win on the mound, and Lucas Lopez closed it out to secure the sweep.
