RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The Crimson Storm dropped their series opener Friday night, falling 14-1 to Arkansas Tech on the road.

Southern Nazarene (8-31, 1-24 GAC) managed five hits in the contest, but Arkansas Tech (23-18, 17-8 GAC) used a dominant second inning and steady offense to pull away early.

The Wonder Boys got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning, using an RBI groundout to take a 1-0 lead.

SNU answered in the second when Josh Bay was hit by a pitch and advanced into scoring position before James Bodine delivered a single up the middle to bring him home, tying the game at 1-1.

Arkansas Tech responded with a huge second inning, scoring 10 runs on seven hits and taking advantage of a pair of SNU errors to build an 11-1 lead.
The Wonder Boys added to their advantage in the fifth inning, plating three more runs to extend the lead to 14-1.

Southern Nazarene threatened in the third inning with back-to-back singles from Dominic Garcia and Blake Brinkmeyer, but the Storm were unable to capitalize. SNU was held scoreless over the final five innings as Arkansas Tech pitching kept the lineup in check.

Bodine led the Storm with an RBI, while Brinkmeyer, Springer, Bay, and Garcia each recorded a hit.
